The freebeverage® service, thanks to the use of microfiltered water and post-mix concentrates, has a strong connotation of environmental protection: it allows a 99% reduction in packaging waste – compared to the consumption of water and bottled drinks, especially PET bottles and cans – and a reduction of 96% in goods transported.
Last year environmental results, achieved thanks to the application of our services for the preparation and distribution of more than 110 million meals, can be summarised as follows:
- 4,255 tons waste from packaging
- 176,000 tons of goods transported
- 7,000 tonnes of CO2
- 5,450 tons of oil
These are significant results, even if the potential is much more substantial, especially in view of the fact that the packaging waste coming deriving from the use of bottled water consists, only in Italy, of over 400,000 tons of PET per year, causing the consumption of 665,000 tons of oil, the emission of 900,000 tons of CO2 and the transport of 13 million tons of cargo.
From an environmental perspective, a further added value of the freebeverage® service is represented by the specific technical characteristics of our dispensers, which allow a significant reduction in energy consumption in comparison with other methods of refrigeration.
For these reasons, the freebeverage® service is used by major private companies attentive to environmental policies, as well as by most organisations in the public field, in compliance with laws and regulations related to the Green Public Procurement (GPP) in catering and, in particular, with the Minimum environmental criteria for the licensing of catering services, approved on July 25, 2011 by the Italian Ministry of Environment and its application in tendering procedures of food service is provided for by law 221/2015.
